This form of compact cup hilt is often associated with the scourge of the Seven Seas. For a packed onboard fight the cutlass was preferred, but is should be remembered that not all fighting was done on ships. Many coastal towns were raided and sacked, and a long double-edged, cut and thrust type blade with good hand protection was prized. It was also something of a status symbol to carry a sword with which the finer points of swordsmanship could be brought into play. The parts of the hilt are all steel and the grip is wood covered in leather. Scabbard included.

Overall: 43"
Blade: 34-1/2"
Weight: 2lbs. 12 oz.
