Arms of Valor - Quality Control Policy

What to do if you receive a defective sword

We understand and acknowledge that, from time to time, customers will receive a product that is flawed in some way. In some cases, it is due to Quality Control at one of our preferred manufacturers not catching a piece before it is shipped with an imperfection. In others, it may be damaged in transit from our store to your location. We here at Arms of Valor are committed to your satisfaction with our products and services – it is in our best interests to give the best we can, and create repeat customers for ourselves! What follows is the proper procedure for recognizing and reporting defects and getting the best customer service that we can offer.

WHAT A DEFECT IS NOT: Swords in the sub-$300 bracket may from time to time, due to the lower cost of production, have minor imperfections. Here is a list of what is acceptable in sub-$300 swords:
1. Slight scratching or scuffing on the surface of the blade
2. A scabbard that does not fit perfectly (for Windlass or DSA swords)
3. A screw on pommel that may need slight tightening
4. A sword being shipped blunt that is described as blunt on our website when no sharpening option was selected
5. Slight color difference in leather or cloth peripherals from pictures on the website

Examples of defects that warrant a return or exchange:
1. A blade that is warped, bent or broken
2. A blade edge that is rolled, chipped or cracked
3. Fittings that are loose or broken
4. A scabbard that is warped or broken
5. A sword shipped blunt when a sharpening option was selected

Reporting Procedure

When you receive a sword from us, inspect it thoroughly. If it has one of the above defects, please do the following:
1. Do not attempt to fix the defect on your own (ie. straighten the sword blade). Doing so may void the return policy.
2. Keep as much of the original packaging as possible.
3. Take pictures of the defect from different angles and as high resolution as possible.
If the packaging was damaged, please photograph that as well.
4. Contact Arms of Valor customer service. Email the pictures and an explanation of the defect.
Please be as specific as possible – “You guys sent me a broken sword” is not descriptive or helpful,
and may delay proper customer service response.
5. Arms of Valor will examine the defect and take appropriate action, exchanging it if necessary.

As a courtesy, Arms of Valor requests that you please refrain from posting on public forums about the defect until the customer service process has been completed. We are resolved to give you the best experience possible, and hope that you would give us a chance to determine a solution that is to your satisfaction. This will give you the opportunity to give the most honest and accurate feedback possible to other consumers.

Arms of Valor in no way takes responsibility for replacing or exchanging swords that have experienced structural failure due to misuse. Requests for a “free sword” in addition to the defective model that you may have received are not realistic. The defective model may be replaced, but if you intend to keep it as is while demanding free product Arms of Valour reserves the right to assume that you are satisfied with your purchase and consider its responsibility to you discharged in full.
